Wednesday 14th December
Victorian Christmas
This year we celebrated the festive season in style by holding a Victorian Christmas Social Evening. Members arrived in traditional Victorian costumes and were shown into a beautifully decorated hall by the Master of Ceremonies. We were entertained by the telling of traditional stories, reading poems, playing games and singing carols. There was even a visit from Santa Claus with presents for everyone. Wednesday 13th July
Pottery Painting Workshop
At very short notice Mandy from Paintpotts shop and pottery in Thornbury put together a great evening.
We decorated our own designer mug or bowl from scratch, using quality bisquewear made in the pottery itself. Mandy provided everything we needed to create our own personally decorated pottery.

Wednesday 8th June
Foraging in Rosie's Wood
On this perfect warm summer evening Ellen Winter from Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust introduced us to some of the many plants growing in the woods that have medicinal properties or can eaten, from Comfrey to mend bones to a Ground Elder salad.
Ellen demonstrated how our stone age ancestors used the seeds of Carax grass to make grain.
We finished the evening by toasting marshmallows over an open fire. Lovely!
Wednesday 13th April
Belly Dancing Workshop
Ann Blagdon runs a school for dancing and has researched the history and culture of the belly dance, travelling abroad many times to learn the origin of it's many hand gestures and body movements. Her talk was fascinating, her costumes superb and her dancing very erotic. At the end of the evening she taught us some basic moves. It was great fun.
Wednesday 10th January
Felting Workshop
Under the brilliant tutelage of Pauline Chidlaw, we magically transformed merino wool, into small felt pictures, using just soap, warm water and elbow grease.
