Wednesday 12th December
Xmas Party

This year we held a very enjoyable retro themed christmas party with games including musical chairs, pass the parcel, and charades.

The food was also retro, with cheese and pineapple sticks, sausage rolls, vol au vonts, jelly and trifle to bring back memories of times gone by.

The christmas quiz around the room got some members thinking.

 And the balloon animal making competition got them creative.

A worthy winner.

Wednesday 14th November

AGM

A new Committee has been created and we look froward to finding out their plans for 2013.  Many thanks to the retiring Committee members and everyone who has supported them over the last 4 years. Our speaker at the AGM was Paul Barnett who gave us a facinating insight into the Purton Hulks.

Wednesday 10th October

Creative Canapes

Glenda Ford came along and demonstrated the art of preparing a selection of delicious canapés for the festive season.  She entertained us with her amusing anecdotes and set a quiz to test our knowledge of all things "foodie".  She also brought along a selection of her preserves for us to try.

Wednesday 12th August

Summer Social

Claire Greenwood entertained us at our August meeting with a programme of poems, monologues, comedy sketches and songs.  Her repertoire was both poignant and very funny.  We look forward to Claire making a return visit in 2013.  We then enjoyed a variety of "nibbles" brought along by members to share.  A lovely "Summer Social".

Fan dancing

The ladies were taught by the charming Claire aka Goldie Lox from the Flaming Feathers Dance Troupe how to strut their stuff wafting ostrich feather fans to the sound of "Copacabana", using moves such as basic front, a peacock, a diva and an angel and how to turn around wearing only a thong and tassels! http://www.theshowgirlacademy.co.uk/gallery/

Bunting

Jane Jeffs and her friend Rosie, both fellow WI members from Berkeley WI showed us how to make this colorful bunting using block printing onto calico.

Wednesday 11th April

Psychic and Angel Readings

With her charismatic looks and engaging personality Channel Dipti encouraged everybody present to believe that the power of positive thinking can make a difference in our lives. She demonstrated several different techniques to prove that we are very susceptible to outside influences. She also preformed Angel Readings using cards and by the end of the evening most people were bending spoons!  A memorable and thought provoking meeting. http://www.channeldipti.com

Wednesday 8th February

Calligraphy

The village hall was quiet for a while, as great concentration is needed to create a beautiful work of art in calligraphy.
We all had a chance to have a go and some lovely designs were produced.

Wednesday 11th January

Circus Skills

We started 2012 with Ben from World Jungle demonstrating and teaching us Circus Skills. A great evening trying our hand at balancing, juggling, plate spinning, Diablo, devil sticks, hula hoops, pogo sticks, unicycle and more. Lots of laughs and good to see everyone having a go. http://www.worldjungle.org.uk/
