CARE OF YOUR LAMPS

MOISTURE -
Due to the natural rock salt formation of these lamps and tea lights they are hydroscopic which means they will absorb moisture from the air and release it when the build up is great enough to convert the moisture to liquid. This should be taken into consideration when deciding where to place them as some living or working areas are prone to moisture build up.

Such places as window sills will attract water moisture to them as the window glass is cold from the outside and the room is warmer inside, especially as summer turns to winter and heating has not already been turned on. Failure to take this into consideration can result in small pools of water forming at the base and may cause staining of polished surfaces if not checked.

It is recommended to use some form of tray or barrier mat if you are unable to use the lamp each day to keep surfaces dry.
Using the lamps each day is by far the best method to keep them dry as the heat from the bulb soon evaporates any moisture collected. If your electric lamp has become damp dry it out before turning it on, this can be done with a hair dryer of placing it in any dry place such as the floor of an airing cupboard.  Once dry try to use the lamp once a day to keep it free from moisture.

No responsibility will be taken for any damage or otherwise from this naturally occurring process

ABOUT SALT CRYSTAL LAMPS

Established in 2001
Crystalite began with the proprietor importing a small quantiy of saltlamps from Pakistan and visiting the Himalayan Khewra mine in 2003. He then formed a Manufacturing partnership with an existing company to manufacture and import salt products into the UK.

We are shown deep excavations 150 feet deep filled now with saline water where its impossible to sink, but so pure you can still just see the bottom, the overhead space is 150 feet above us but this section is now disused, as the rain water running through from the mountain peeks distributing the 250 million year old minerals through the walls has long risen above working level filling the once floor space.

We travel further and find a worker in a room laying bricks made from salt just like house bricks but these made from the salt of evaporated seas millions of years old. He is laying bricks in double rows and fitting lights within the cavity so when he has completed building this room the walls can be illuminated and warmed for use as a healing sanctuary, for many years rooms have been built and used by people with resperority problems or migraines and allergies.

On visiting the mines I was led by my guide on a small train into the depths of the Himalayan mountains, through a very long tunnel, every wall was pure salt formation no rock anywhere.

We entered a vast opening, tunnels branching off in all directions, every where are amazing coloured salt walls in arch form, man made spaces from years of excavation, my guide leads me through amber / peach and white coloured tunnels pressing his bright torch to the walls illuminating the rock crystal with stunning effects.

On leaving the mine I am invited to lick the wall as in keeping with tradition and place my hands in falling water that builds stalactites and stalagmites. A beautiful experience I wanted to bring home, and share, so I did in the form of crystalte rock crystal salt lamps and products.
