UpMIDI Division

MIDI Division displays and, if required, can edit the integer stored in the SMF header which defines the number of MIDI Ticks (Pulses) Per Quarter Note. The remainder of the file is left completely untouched.

Changing the MIDI Division will have a direct impact on the playback tempo and also affects the spacing of bar lines in Cakewalk. The drop-down list box contains a list of safe values that are acceptable to Cakewalk. Other values may be typed in, but these are liable to provoke Cakewalk into reclocking the file to its nearest preferred value when the file is loaded.

This utility allows SMF files with unusual MIDI Division values to be edited in Cakewalk without being reclocked, by first changing the value to one from the drop-down list, then changing it back again afterwards.
