Gates and Railings
In 2005, and after many delays, the installation of new gates and railings was completed. These provided better security from intruders and passers-by who often used the parking spaces during the day and swimming pool on summer nights! The system uses a keypad and ‘zapper’ entry system to allow access through the electric gates.
Kingfisher Court resident Anthony Charlesworth came up with the design for the gates and railings, incorporating features of some original railings used on the roof terrace at the back of the building, to create a look in-keeping with the overall style of Kingfisher Court.
This was essential to obtain approval from the listed buildings officer for which fellow resident Diana Coleman put in much effort to obtain (click on these links to see the original diagrams used for the design of the railings: design 1:

). The eventual completion of the gates and railings was cause for a small celebration!
